Google Glass has become one of the most hotly anticipated technological devices of all time, as it enables integration of the virtual and real worlds simultaneously. People have been signing up in their droves to become 'Glass Explorers', using #ifihadglass and those who are lucky enough to receive the device will be able to download an app from the New York Times.

Jazz queen Ella Fitzgerald would have turned 96 today. Reason for the search company to give her a doodle on its homepage. Fitzgerald, who also has the nicknames 'Lady Ella' and 'The First Lady of Song', is seen performing with her band here:

Thatcher's problem on Twitter.

Last week, on the 8th of April, ex UK Primer Minister Margaret Thatcher died.

Due to her severe measures she was known also as the "Iron Lady". She was in power between 1979 and 1990, and was Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990.

In her life she was loved and hated simultaneously by many people and her death has found popularity in social networks, proving that even after death she remains one of Britain’s most controversial characters.

 Messages sent to 'celebrities' over Facebook will soon cost money. The social network is currently testing their model of pay-for-messages in Europe. The idea: Whoever wants to send a personal message to the inbox of a celebrity profile will have to pay. And it's hardly 'cheap as chips'.

We have discussed the relationship between sporting events and social media interaction in the past, so it was no surprise to see social activity rising for one of Wrestling's biggest events. Wrestlemania is a favourite amongst WWE fans, with the 29th edition taking place at the weekend, and this was recognised through the creation of a social command centre for them.

Mark Zuckerberg yesterday unveiled Facebook's latest venture, a piece of software for Android called "home". Named as such because it takes over your phone's home screen, displaying a slideshow from your Facebook news feed even when it is locked.

Footballer Joey Barton in trouble for calling PSG player a 'ladyboy' on Twitter.

French football club Paris Saint Gemain have threatened to take action against notorious footballing bad boy Joey Barton. Yesterday the English Marseille player called fellow footballer, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva an "overweight ladyboy". A spokesperson from the Paris club said that PSG has the right to take necessary action. Calling the tweet "serious and more than a simple verbal clash."

Fukushima 2 years later, by Google Street View

Google Street offers a view of Fukushima more than 2 years after the devastating tsunami that swept over the city on March 11th 2011.
When taking a tour through the streets bear in mind that, before the disaster, the Prefecture area was full of people and children walking around houses, schools, shops and buildings in general.

As I was recently organising an upcoming event on Facebook, I noticed a new feature in Facebook's event interface. The social network now includes weather forecasts, predicting the temperature and conditions.
